Scotland’s “favourite avant-garde noisemakers” Neu! Reekie! cross boundaries and borders with a one-off Hull happening featuring an eclectic mix of some of the UK counter-culture’s guiding lights and time-served trouble-makers. This unique event will feature incendiary live music from Young Fathers; pop and political powerhouse Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon; spoken word sensation Hollie McNish; Jamaican-British dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson; intercut with strange animations and powerful short films. Expect some high-profile special guests. Age guidance: 16+. Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult, aged 18+, and seated in the balcony/gallery area.
Where Are We Now? will be a summer festival like no other: a gathering of time-served trouble-makers, spoken word rebels, artistic mavericks and leftfield music pioneers. We’ll be converging on the city of Hull to ask of today’s counter-culture the soaring, searching question with which David Bowie kissed us goodbye.
