Summary

Travel the world without leaving Hull when the winning images from the 2016 international Travel Photographer of the Year awards go on public display here for the first time in a stunning exhibition.

For 14 years Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) has been challenging amateur and professional photographers from around the world, and year-on-year the awards go from strength to strength; the images just get better and better. Photographers from over 120 countries now take part, and the winning images provide a magnificent view of this planet, seen through the eyes of some incredibly talented and creative individuals.

The TPOTY-winning photographers capture places and ways of life that most of us will never get to experience at first hand. From sweeping landscapes, seascapes and mountainscapes, to fascinating festivals and celebrations, intimate glimpses into different cultures and life in villages and cities, and from the beauty of the animal kingdom to the visceral reality of existence in some of the harshest environments in the world, these images take us on a visual journey across continents.

If you’re a photography lover, or love to travel, or if you’re an armchair traveller or aspire to take up photography, the Travel Photographer of the Year exhibition will entertain, enthrall and inspire you. And, who knows, you might even find yourself picking up your camera and heading out to capture your own images for TPOTY 2017!
