Nourishment (A Remix) is a new network and a collective response to the output of the influential American artist Jean Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), currently on exhibit at The Barbican’s ‘Basquiat: Boom For Real’ exhibition.

Exactly, two years ago to the day of the final Nourishment (series #1) at Union Mash-Up, this is a remix of a successful format moving forward into 2018 and welcomes Hull based audiovisual combo, FREEMETRE performing “On Automatic”, a live improvised collaborative response to the themes of Basquiat’s inspirational works.

London based guest and artist Xana, a multi-disciplinary live loop musician, sound designer, poet and interactive performance artist, also explores the theme of ‘otherness’.

Meanwhile, new works paying respect to Basquiat’s inspirational output also come courtesy of Rotterdam based artist Larissa Monteiro (Worm) and London based ritualists The Cult of Rammellzee.

The final remix component comes from Hull based performance artist William Vinegrad who will be navigating another key theme in Basquiat’s works – that of being the outsider.

Directed by Hull-based artist Michael Barnes-Wynters.

The bar’s music will be courtesy of Doodlebug Nuggets (Residents Association/ Freetownway Productions).

A RED Contemporary Arts event.
