Not sure about going solo or how to start a band? This HUSH workshop session with Humber Street Sesh founder Mark Page (Mak) will tell you how to find other local musicians and contact promoters as well as what you’ll need to know to get gigs. You’ll come away from the session with heaps of practical information.

Mak started weekly grassroots free music night The Sesh, set up to cater for a lack of opportunities for unsigned and emerging acts in Hull. From this, Mak went on to start Humber Street Sesh, a festival which celebrates the city’s finest bands alongside live art installations, street entertainment and more.

In this session, Mak will talk you through his role at The Sesh, where it all started and how this led on to this role as a festival director for Humber Street Sesh. He will suggest the right places to meet other musicians, get yourself in a band and the right way to approach promoters.

Mak will also discuss the importance of EPK’s (Electronic Press Kit’s) and provide good and bad examples. Attendees are welcome to bring along their own press kit’s for Mak to feedback on.

The workshop will also give attendees the chance to ask their own questions at the end of the session.

Please note this workshop is for those aged 14-25. The session will run from 2pm – 4pm.

Workshop spaces are very limited and offered on a first come, first served basis. Please email creativevoice@hullcc.gov.uk to book a place.
