Of Shoes and Ships and Sealing Wax introduces primary and secondary students to the music of the past, and helps them to make sense of it in a modern world.

The performance explores the intriguing 15th and 16th century repertoire of Petrus Alamire and is blended with the students’ own creative responses, telling incredible tales from the unusual life of Petrus Alamire,┬árenaissance polymath and royal spy.

The illuminated manuscripts from the workshop of ┬áPetrus Alamire are part of Beverley Early Music Festival’s exhibition. Throughout the month leading into the Festival, student mentors from Beverley Grammar School and pupils from local primaries will work alongside professional performers and advanced music students.

This performance is part of Beverley Early Music Festival.
