Summary

Protein Dance will be performing its acclaimed outdoor show (In)visible Dancing as part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017. In its 12th edition, this much-loved outdoor event has been specially commissioned for the people of Hull. Integrating performers both professional and community-based, the company rehearses and performs with locally based talent, which makes this performance truly something special. Featuring live music (including a sousaphone!) be prepared to see the streets come to life as Protein animates the city centre with dance, theatre and drama.

The two-week dance residency will culminate in a spectacular Grand Finale performance on Saturday 1 July. Be sure to join us in Jameson Street, Hull city centre, from 3pm. This joyous and unique celebration of Hull promises to be an experience to remember.

Working with a talented Hull cast

Protein Dance is proud to be working with the talent of Hull including Jon Beney and Freddie Garland of Tenfoot Dance; a team of six apprentice dancers: Tamar Draper, William Hodson, Sarah Pringle, Kate Foster, Sean Moss and Jessica Fraulo Ryder; plus a team of community dance groups including Kingston Swing, Tango Hull and Armstrong Sequence Group.

Learn the flashmob routine and take part

The Grand Finale on Saturday 1 July will feature more than 100 local performers, bringing the city centre to life. And guess what? No dance experience is required to learn the ‘flashmob routine’ and be part of something spectacular. Protein Dance is holding free workshops on Wednesday 21 and Wednesday 28 June, 5.15pm-6pm, at The Octagon, Goodwin Trust Centre, Walker Street, HU3 2RA. To take part, please email protein@proteindance.co.uk and book a space on the date of your choice.
