Summary

Following the critically successful, sell out productions of Our Mutual Friend and DefianceHull Truck Youth Theatre’s 16+ groups are joining forces for the first time with three of Hull Truck Theatre’s Supported Companies, some of the most exciting independent theatre companies in the city, fresh from their own success in the city and beyond.

The result will be three unique productions celebrating the diversity of work being made in the city and the next generation of theatre makers.

Human Electric Tree by Josh Overton, with Silent Uproar

The Almost Adults are… almost adults. They have spent the best part of the last two decades in our ‘flawless’ education system. This system will allow the Almost Adults to be happy and achieve all their dreams. They will get perfect families, the job their parents told them they always wanted and will definitely definitely never create any psychopaths. The fact that Jackson is failing and fantasying about strangling his teacher, and Brown is bored out of her mind, must have nothing to do with a desire to turn children into perfect robots… right?

Multi-Award Winning Silent Uproar (Edinburgh Fringe First, Music) & Sunday Times Award Winning Playwright & Performance Poet Josh Overton & Hull Truck Theatre’s Youth Theatre have teamed up to create Human Electric Tree. A raucous, weird & entertaining look at the systems we put young people through.

For fans of American Psycho, Scroobius Pip & The History Boys.

Silent Uproar are a multi-award winning company, telling stories to make the world a little bit less rubbish. They commission playful and provocative writers to make entertaining and popular new work for cinema goers and comedy fans. They are ecstatic to work with Sunday Times award winning writer & poet Josh Overton (Angry, Sad Little Man) and Hull Trucks 16+ Youth Theatre to create a bold new piece
