Learn and play Hnefatafl, the board game the Vikings brought to these shores before the arrival of chess.

A king must escape with the help of eight guards, while sixteen invaders attempt to capture him. Held at the Hull and East Riding Museum, this is the first Hnefatafl tournament to be organised in the city. It is attracting players from across the UK and some international players too.

The day will consist of a tutorial session, a main tournament, side tournaments, and casual play for those who just want to pop in for a little while. Alongside the gaming there will be a small exhibition of different Hnefatafl games.

People can come and join in on the day, but it would be wise to book a place in the main tournament beforehand.

If you have purchased a ticket for an event/activity at this venue through hull2017.co.uk, please do not contact the venue direct with enquiries for that purchase as they will be unable to help.
