Hull Comic Con Spring 2017’s Night Bash!
A night of comedy, music, games and dancing featuring TIM QUINN, writer for The Guardian newspaper and former editor of Marvel Comics!
For over 30 years Tim Quinn worked for the world’s most famous comic book companies as scriptwriter, editor and illustrator, on everything from Beryl the Peril, Korky the Cat, Bunty, Desperate Dan and the Bash Street Kids to Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk.
With a lifelong love and encyclopedic knowledge of comic books, Tim takes his audience on a hilarious and highly nostalgic trip through the last 150 years, screening images of the best and the worst strip creations. Tim will also take his audience behind the editorial scenes at various comic book companies he worked for both in the UK & the US.
Hear how Tim teamed up with legendary Queen guitarist Brian May to create a comic book without pictures. See how the naughtiest comic strip ever seen was produced in the Marvel Comics basement. Find out how the daughter of Enid Blyton teamed up with the editor of Spider-Man. What the banned Spider-Man cover looked like and how Tim survived being editor of Barbie’s comic book!
Gary Jennison will be bringing you the festival’s SuperSciFiFantasyHero Quiz with great questions, facts and prizes! Prepare for a whirlwind performance – everyday observations with unique twists that are crazy, scary and funny at the same time. A funny man who invites you into his wonderful world.
New Magnet bring us their quirky comic sci-fi and horror songs. New Magnet have been featured on Radio 4’s Mitch Benn Show and provided the Multimedia “Mick – The Musical” To the Mick Ronson Tribute show organised by the estate of the late guitarist.
