Arensky: Trio no I in D minor op. 32
Shostakovich: Trio no I in C minor op 8
Smetana: Trio in G minor op 15

Free pre-concert talk at 18:45 by Graham Saunders

The Kinsky trio Prague is one of the outstanding Czech ensembles of the past twenty years, and as such has set a focus on works of both well- and lesser-known Czech and Russian composers. Hence the inclusion here of a trio by Anton Arensky, a romantic composer in the tradition of Tchaikovsky, before an early Shostakovich work, also in romantic style, and Smetena’s passionate trio composed after the death of his four-year-old daughter.

“The Kinsky Trio Prague performs these works idiomatically, with musical accuracy and effusive exuberance.” Audiophile Audition, 2009.

“Kinsky Trio Prague resurrects these admirable pages with a communicative verve at each moment. Its playing, brilliant, passionate.” Audiophile Audition, 2009.
