Hull Independent Cinema & Leeds Int’l Film Festival presents: THEY CALL ME JEEG
Gabriele Mainetti | 2015 | Italian | Unrated – 18+| 112 mins | Italian language with English Subtitles

THEY CALL ME JEEG breaks the mould of superhero movies and delivers a dark and gritty black comedy sci-fi set in the seedy underbelly of Rome. Petty thief Enzo accidentally gains superpowers after falling into toxic waste in the river Tiber and pits himself against a psychopathic gangster boss.

Starring Raúl Arévalo, Alexandra Jiménez, Javier Bódalo

Audience Award Winner Leeds International Film Festival
Rome Film Festival, Fantasia Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival Official Selections

“Equal parts campy pulp and gritty crime drama, Jeeg pulls the unusual combo off well, regularly dipping toes into very dark waters while always maintaining a deviant sense of humour.” – Haleigh Foutch, Collider

“Italy finally gets its own superhero, and the results are surprisingly gritty and thoroughly enjoyable.” Jay Weissberg, Variety

THEY CALL ME JEEG is unrated. No one under 18 will be admitted.
