Summary

Ecce Populus, an exhibition of portraits at Beverley Minster, is a project by local, award winning artist, Geoff Hewitt.

The work comprises twelve, oil-on-canvas images of people who work at the Minster. They include clergy and support staff, all of whom volunteered for the project and were free to choose how they wished to be portrayed.

The exhibition presents an everyday, snapshot view of the people who work at the Minster or help in it’s organisation. Arranged in twelve alcoves, interspersed by historic commemorative plaques, the work is informed by the fabric of the Minster and forms part of it’s dynamic.
