Summary

Following the critically successful, sell out productions of Our Mutual Friend and Defiance, Hull Truck Youth Theatre’s 16+ groups are joining forces for the first time with three of Hull Truck Theatre’s Supported Companies, some of the most exciting independent theatre companies in the city, fresh from their own success in the city and beyond.

The result will be three unique productions celebrating the diversity of work being made in the city and the next generation of theatre makers.

What About The Children with Bellow Theatre

Deep down I think I deserve it. And that’s the worst of it.

CLICK. SEND. CLICK.

This is a story about class S17. It’s a story about Him and Her, who let them down and how they grow up. It’s a story about friendship, and knee grazes and old school crisps.  It’s a story about a picture, a betrayal, and the aftershock.

Bellow Theatre are a Hull based new-writing company rooted in brave and stirring storytelling. They explore stories that have a life of their own, that twist, turn, and collide. They often bring live folk music into the mix and always try to champion the downtrodden, forgotten, excluded, or silenced. The work is intimate, moving, and celebrates DIY aesthetics.

When Everything Stops with the Roaring Girls

Sixty seconds. It’s long enough to make a bad first impression, or a wrong judgement. It’s long enough to make a friend, to fall in love, to make a mistake.

This is a show about using your time. About using your voice. It’s all the things we want to say, and all the things we never say.

It’s that 3am conversation feeling, when you can feel the music in the floorboards, and the stranger sat next to you becomes your best friend. And time just seems to stop.

The Roaring Girls use personal narratives, often their own, to create work that explores big issues and little idiosyncrasies. It’s somewhere in between theatre and a conversation: interactive, improvised, intimate. It is tactile theatre for those glued to screens. Their work is fun and rebellious. It’s honest. And somewhat charming.
