Cultural Transformations: The Impacts of Hull UK City of Culture 2017

15 – 16 March 2018
9am – 5pm

Cultural Transformations: The Impacts of Hull UK City of Culture 2017, hosted by the University of Hull, will bring together stakeholders from the cultural sector, funders, academia and the community to discuss the findings from the evaluation of Hull’s time as UK City of Culture. These findings have and will inform the development of the post-2017 legacy strategy, contribute to a blueprint for future UK City of Culture title holders, and begin to address the question: “How do we strengthen culture in our cities?”.

As the exclusive academic research partner, the Culture, Place and Policy Institute at the University of Hull is leading on research into the processes, impacts and legacies of Hull’s position as the UK City of Culture 2017.

Discover the key findings from the Cultural Transformations report.

Remixing The City Of Culture

13 – 14 March 2018

In the run up to the Cultural Transformations conference, the University of Hull will also be hosting a participatory remixing/ hackathon event. Invited participants will spend two days working with the data and outputs for Hull UK City of Culture 2017 to find the untold stories and new angles on the year’s impacts.

On the first day, participants will explore the many data sets and archives from the year before proposing their own remix projects and forming teams to carry them out. Coming back on the second day, teams will develop these into stories and displays to share with conference delegates in an exhibition at Cultural Transformations.
