Francis Poulenc: Organ Concerto

One of few works for organ by Poulenc, this charming neo-Baroque concerto was premiered by Maurice Duruflé in 1938 with Nadia Boulenger conducting.

Kurt Weill: Suite for Wind Band, from The Threepenny Opera (Die Dreigroschenoper) of 1928.

The opera is a version of The Beggar’s Opera, with libretto by Berthold Brecht. It was influenced by jazz and German dance-music of the time, and contains the famous “Mack the Knife”.

Maurice Duruflé: Requiem.

Commissioned in 1941 by the collaborationist Vichy regime, Duruflé completed it in 1947 and dedicated it to the memory of his father. The music incorporates numerous themes from the Gregorian mass for the dead.
