When Ebenezer Tare moves his family into an abandoned Scottish castle, he doesn’t expect anyone to disturb them. Little does he know, the picture gallery is full of portraits of former owners with unfinished business! As the clock strikes midnight, the paintings return to life and step down from their frames – but will they succeed in finding the castle’s rightful owner by daybreak, or are they too busy getting to know one another?

Join Taverners Theatre as they revive this one-act comedic operetta first performed in 1869, with words by W. S. Gilbert (of Gilbert and Sullivan fame) and music by Frederic Clay. After the hour-long performance Taverners Theatre invites you to enjoy a drink from the bar, explore our picture gallery and meet some of their cast members.
