SAMEERA ANWAR-WEST

Hull-based corporate lawyer working in the entertainment and media industry

Sameera is a senior in-house lawyer who has worked in a variety of industries during her career including banking, insurance broking, utilities and retail. Currently employed by a major global entertainment company as a European legal adviser, she is married with a young child and lives in the Victoria Dock area of Hull.

Sameera has over six years’ experience working directly in the media, arts and entertainment industry and has advised on a number of complex UK and pan-European projects.
As an in-house lawyer for a major global corporate, Sameera is familiar with taking part in working groups charged with delivering strategic objectives within rigid time frames. She also has experience of fundraising within both the professional arena and through her university alumni networks.

An astute networker, Sameera is looking forward to advocating Hull as City of Culture in both her personal and professional networks, while working with fellow members of the culture team to engage the myriad communities that make up the city of Hull.

“I’m really excited about what 2017 and its legacy is going to mean to Hull. It’s now about delivering and leaving our children a legacy that we can be proud of. This is going to be a very exciting time for Hull, for our children and for all the communities that make up the fabric of our city.”
