Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Hull and Professor of Modern History

Professor Glen Burgess is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs at the University of Hull.

He was born in New Zealand and studied at the Victoria University of Wellington before completing his PhD at the University of Cambridge.

After completing his studies he later returned to New Zealand to teach at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch until 1994 when he returned to England to teach at the History Department at Hull University.

Professor Burgess was awarded a personal chair in 1998 and was appointed as Head of Department of History in 2003. He has been a member of Senate since 2001.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and is a member of the Governing Body at Hymers College.
