The Sixteen Thousand

Artists: 150 Early Years Settings

Creative Director: McMillan Nursery School & Hull 2017 Learning & Participation Team

Imagine a world designed and built by the next generation – how would they make their mark on our city?

This child-led project celebrated the creativity of Hull’s under-fives, exploring learning through experimentation while helping to develop motor skills.

An act of creativity in all Early Years settings, the result was a striking brick installation, celebrated in the centre of Hull for everyone to see.

An installation as delicate as their development, but as powerful as they are. Watch what happens when you let 16,000 children play with 16 tonnes of clay?

Discover more.
