Community Brand Case Study: Hessle Road Network

This exciting hub lives just off Hessle Road and makes a real difference to young people aged between nine and 21.

Its mission is to have a positive impact on Hessle Road’s communities and raise the aspirations of the young people whose lives it touches.

It has open access for arts and crafts so kids can get creative, as well as sports activities for those who want to get their blood pumping. The youth workers are trained to support anyone who is vulnerable, or who may be exposed to domestic abuse, and they provide a safe place where young people can talk openly.

The network has 17 members of staff, plus youth volunteers, to support the centre and this means it can also do outreach work on the surrounding streets. Come rain or shine, staff and volunteers grab their coats and walk the streets ready to engage with those young people who may not feel confident popping into the hub. In a nutshell, this wonderful place gets kids off the street and into an environment where they can do arts and crafts, play sports, talk openly and be themselves. Now that is mission accomplished.
