Gallery: Rehearsals for The Culture are in full swing

But who took all of our desks?

University of Hull alumni and acclaimed playwright James Graham has been hard at work during 2017, researching and writing his latest play. His recent hits have included Labour Of Love on the West End (taking a behind the scenes look at the Labour party) and Ink at the Almeida Theatre (taking a behind the scenes look at The Sun newspaper). So whose office is he exploring in his next play?

Err, ours…

Based on hours of interviews with Hull 2017 staff and volunteers, The Culture at Hull Truck Theatre takes a wry look at the inner workings of Hull 2017. Set in our Lowgate office on the day of the ceremonial handover to Coventry 2021, this frenetic farce sees our Monitoring & Evaluation team frantically prepare their final report on the year. What could possibly go wrong?

To get that authentic Hull 2017 feel, the production team at Hull Truck have even borrowed some of the desks and branding from our real office on Lowgate, complete with our brand colour scheme and volunteer charter.

Take a look at how rehearsals are going so far in the photo gallery below.

Directed by Mark Babych, The Culture runs from 26 Jan – 17 Feb 2018 and is on sale now. Frankly you’d be daft to miss it.
