Season 4tography – Arco wants you to get behind the lens

Get in touch with your creative side with this new photography competition from Arco.

Keen photographer? Arco is encouraging you to go out, take in your surroundings and capture an image that perfectly captures one of Hull 2017’s seasons in their Season 4tography competition. Pick from Made in Hull, Roots & Routes, Freedom and Tell the World, then snap away.

You might photograph a loved and iconic Hull landmark, or something more personal to you and your experience of Hull as UK City of Culture 2017.

A picture says a thousand words and can capture a moment in time that lasts a lifetime. Create your own part of the story about what the seasons mean to you.

With cash prizes, photography masterclasses up for grabs and the winning photos set to be professionally framed and exhibited in the HIP Photography Festival (29 Sep – 12 Nov) it’s an exciting opportunity to share your perceptions of Hull 2017’s seasons.

The photography masterclass, provided by the HIP Gallery, aims to help the winners improve their photography skills. Classes will be in small groups to allow each person the opportunity to learn and ask questions. Lead by one of the photographers whose work will form part of the HIP Photography Festival, the masterclass will give winners the opportunity to learn first-hand from a professional photographer.

To be in with a chance of winning you’ll need to impress an esteemed panel of judges. The panel’s fine eye for photography is guided by Neil Jowsey, Arco’s first ever CEO plus Alan Raw of BBC fame, Creative Director of Hull International Photography Festival and curator of Hull’s HIP Gallery. Matt Hart, a seasoned professional photographer, Fujifilm Ambassador and creator of the Fujiholics groups is also a member of the panel, as is Andrea Lea, a fine art and documentary photographer, hailing from Norway but now based in Hull.

If you’d like to show what the seasons mean to you, all you have to do is:

– Select one of the four categories
– Take a photograph that represents what that category means to you
– Upload your image
