Make It Happen in 2017

Got a case of the January blues? We’ve got just the antidote.

We all know the feeling. December’s festivities are over, our purses are lighter and our heaters are well and truly cranked up. It can all start to get a bit much, leaving us in need of a helping hand to re-energise us for the year ahead. That’s where Hull 2017 comes in.

With hundreds of events and activities set to take place across the city this year, we want everybody to get out and about and be part of something special. All you have to do is follow our five-step Make It Happen plan and you’re good to go.

There are five ways to Make It Happen: Take Notice, Be Active, Connect, Keep Learning and Give.

Kicking off the plan is Take Notice, where we’re asking you to pay attention to the sights, sounds and smells that you may not have noticed before. Gaze up at the buildings on Whitefriargate for a breath-taking view, visit Blade in Queen Victoria Square to marvel at the craftsmanship of Hull’s engineers or discover the story of your local area at the History Centre.

We want everybody to ride the wave of excitement and take an active part in what is going to be an unforgettable year. Don’t sit on your sofa watching it on TV or reading about it on social media, get out and be part of it.

If you’re short of inspiration, check out our Take Notice film, where we follow a local couple as they experience the sights and sounds of Made In Hull, our opening event which was seen by over 342,000 people.

There has never been a better time to get stuck in to something new – from making a small change to getting involved in something much bigger. You might not realise it, but you will be contributing to the lasting legacy of Hull 2017, and that’s bound to feel good.
