The local legends will play their last hometown gig before taking to the stage at a major US festival.
Taking place as part of Back To Ours, the gig will be the band’s second appearance at the festival as they played a storming set at Sirius Academy West last year, taking them into new areas of the city. It will also be LIFE’s last hometown show before they head out to Austin, Texas to play for a second time at major US music festival South by South West (SXSW).
Mez Green, lead singer for LIFE, said: “We haven’t played in Hull for ages, so what better than a show in the heart of the community inside a shopping centre? Chips and beans and a trip to Iceland…that’s how Hull does it. This will send us off to the US in style.”
Last year proved to be a defining moment in the band’s career with performances on the BBC Introducing Stage at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Humber Street Sesh, where they topped the bill fresh from supporting punk-rock duo Slaves on their European tour.
As if that wasn’t enough, Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens included their debut album Popular Music in his definitive list of records of 2017, which also included globally recognised acts such as Kendrick Lamar, Stormzy, Royal Blood and The XX.
Back To Ours festival director Louise Yates said: “LIFE are not only the hottest band in Hull right now but are making waves right across the British music scene. This is your last chance to see them before they head to America and with the combined power of Carl Barât, I think this will go down as one of the most memorable gigs in the city.”
Tickets for Carl Barât plus support from LIFE cost £7.50 and will go on sale from 10am North Point Shopping Centre on Sat 10 Feb. Remaining tickets will be on sale online from 6pm on Mon 12 Feb.
Tickets are still available online for a host of family-friendly Back To Ours shows taking place from 13 to 18 Feb, including Jeddybears & Gary’s Picnic, The Amazing Bubble Man, Hotel Paradiso, The Giant’s Loo Rolland Picture House. See the full-line up.
