HSS 2017 is this weekend! Get the lowdown on the UK’s biggest festival of rising stars and emerging talent.
Hull’s premier one day music festival, Humber Street Sesh, is back for its 6th year this Saturday, with more brilliant homegrown bands and entertainment for the whole family. There’s only a few days to go until it kicks off, so we’ve created a quick round of top things you should know about the festival.
Date and time
Humber Street Sesh 2017 is this Saturday – 5 Aug 2017.
Doors open at 11am and the headliners should close the festival at around 11pm.
Advance tickets are £10, on sale online until 4 Aug. You can also buy these at a number of outlets across the city, including Larkin’s Bar, Früit and Hull Libraries. Tickets on the gate are £15, if advance tickets don’t sell out. Under 12s go free with an adult.
Humber Street Sesh 2017 takes over Hull’s marina for the day, one of the city’s hottest locations for bars, food and culture.
In addition to the diverse entertainment and music on show, the marina is where you’ll find some real gems like the Humber Distillery Co. Gin Bar, Humber Street Gallery, Thieving Harry’s and many more bars and restaurants making it the perfect location for a festival.

This year the festival has expanded to 20 stages of live music, all showcasing a variety of musical talent from the city as well as touring bands from across the UK.
The University of Hull Main Stage is where you’ll find the bands who pull no punches when it comes to live shows. Meanwhile The Squarewaves stage brings a mix of electronic and dance artists, and the BBC Introducing stage will showcase some of the finest acts from the region.
Brand new for 2017, the Back to Ours stage will play host to some of the very best emerging bands from across the country, inviting some of the industry big hitters to come along and see for themselves the world class music scene in Hull.
Hull has undoubtedly one of the strongest unsigned music scenes in the country, with an abundance of diverse and creative talent, and over 200 bands hitting the stage during the course of the festival.
Headlining the festival are Hull’s own DIY punk rockers LIFE, who will bring the day to a close with politically astute air-punching anthems. Vulgarians, who have been flying the flag for Hull across the UK, will close the Back to Ours stage, and Counting Coins will bring the energy and gravitas with their festival ready ska music over on the Früit 2 stage.

Humber Street Sesh isn’t just about showcasing the amazing bands playing their future classics, however, The festival has a family-friendly feel with something to keep festival goers of all ages happy.
Throughout the day there will be family entertainment, art exhibitions, street performers, the popular silent disco tent and plenty of food and market stalls all over the site. And don’t forget, children under 12 go free with an adult.
