Hull Venue announces first shows

The first three events scheduled to take place at the highly-anticipated venue have been revealed.

The League of Gentlemen, Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals and Roger Taylor & Brian May’s Queen Extravaganza – just three of the brilliant shows you could experience at Hull Venue, the new 3,500 capacity music and events complex taking shape in the city centre.

Hull’s very own Reece Shearsmith will bring award-winning black comedy The League Of Gentlemen to the venue on 4 Sept 2018, with a brand new live show for its first UK tour in over 12 years. See BAFTA award-winning comedy legends Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson join Reece to bring the unhinged fictional village of Royston Vasey to life.

Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals will head to Hull Venue in Spring 2019, bringing world-class dancers direct from BBC One’s award-winning prime time TV show Strictly Come Dancing. Audiences will enjoy the incredible talent of their favourite professional dancers as they take to the stage to perform exquisitely choreographed Ballroom and Latin routines, with all the sequins and sparkle you have come to know and love.

Described by Roger Taylor as ‘a rock celebration in the Royal tradition’ and designed to bring new and old fans together, the Queen Extravaganza will come to Hull on 28 Oct 2018 as part of a month-long UK tour. Billed as ‘Queen’s Greatest Hits Tour’, the show promises to deliver all the hits, including Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites The Dust, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Under Pressure.

Dan Harris, general manager at Hull Venue, said: “We are delighted to announce our first three shows, particularly Reece Shearsmith’s ‘homecoming’ with The League of Gentlemen. This will be one of the very first shows to perform at the Venue. There are lots more announcements and some really exciting events which we’ll be revealing in the coming weeks.”

Councillor Stephen Brady, leader of Hull City Council said: “These acts are playing at major venues across the country so this really does show the calibre of booking that Hull Venue is capable of. I’m sure we’ll see these shows sell out quickly and I look forward to seeing more big-name announcements over the coming weeks.”

Tickets for The League Of Gentlemen and Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals go on sale at 10am on 15 Feb. Tickets for Roger Taylor & Brian May’s Queen Extravaganza go on sale at 9am on 16 Feb.
