Challenge Hull Week #24 – ‘The Washing Line’

Have you ever been a poet without even knowing it? This week the BBC are asking you to get involved in…

‘THE WASHING LINE’

DO:

Take inspiration from Hull’s own Phillip Larkin and write a poem on a postcard about where you live, take a photo of it and share this with us on social media using #ChallengeHull before sending your postcard to BBC Radio Humberside, Dock St, Hull HU1 3RH.

Your poem could be chosen as one of the 2,017 poems to be hung from a mammoth washing line during the BBC Contains Strong Language festival later this year.

IF YOU HAVE A LITTLE MORE TIME:

How many poems can you write about where you live? Is there more than one thing about this place that can spark your creative writing?

THINK:

Did taking the time to think about where you live make you appreciate it more? Did it help re-ignite your love for your home?

SHARE:

Share photos of your poems on a postcard on social media using #ChallengeHull. And don’t forget to send your Hull themed poems to BBC Radio Humberside by posting them or dropping them into reception or your local library.

Check our social media channels or our website next Monday for your next challenge. And don’t forget to share all the challenges (including your own) with others to encourage them to get stuck in, too.

Good luck!
