6 acts you can’t miss at Hull Comedy Festival 2016

Buckle up for some belly laughs – the 10th annual Hull Comedy Festival is back.

The Hull Comedy Festival returns next month, bringing 17 days of laughter to venues across Hull from 3-20 November.

Local comedians rub shoulders with some of comedy’s biggest names, offering chuckles a-plenty for all ages. Here are our top six picks of the festival.

Anna Morris: It’s Got To Be Perfect

Bridezilla Georgina (the unctuous alter ego of comedian Anna Morris) has a wedding to plan – and it has got to be perfect. Spend some time with the worst bride in Britain as she gears up for her special day.

Friday 18 November at 8pm – Kardomah94

Seann Walsh

Floppy-haired comedy everyman (and self-proclaimed Lie-in King) Seann Walsh returns to Hull this November. The Foster’s Comedy Award nominee performs with such energy that you might never know that he’s hungover. But if this clip proves anything, he probably is.

Saturday 19 November at 8pm – Hull City Hall

Kabaret Ani Mru-Mru

You don’t need to speak Polish to find Kabaret Ani Mru-Mru hilarious, although it probably does help. Drawing huge audiences around the world for their sketch comedy this show is sure to be a massive hit with Hull’s Polish community.

Ten Foot City – Bonfire Night Comedy Cracker

If you’re not in the mood to burn an effigy of a 17th century terrorist in a park, then Ten Foot City magazine have alternative Bonfire Night entertainment planned for you. They’re showcasing the very best of Hull’s new breed of comedians at Früit, including Gina Jenkinson, compere Sam Harland and Jack Gleadow.

Beth Vyse

Deeply, hilariously inappropriate, Beth Vyse brings her show As Funny as Cancer to Hull. Fresh from a run at the Edinburgh Fringe it’s a surprising and uplifting take on surviving cancer.

Thursday 10 November at 7.30pm – Früit

The Kagools

It’s easy(ish) to make adult-only comedy, but creating stand-up shows that work for audiences of all ages is much trickier. That’s exactly what The Kagools do, and they do it with gusto. Expect silent anarchic silliness (in waterproofs).

Tuesday 15 November at 8pm – Kardomah94
